"CYCLE" 2004 Longford Park, Manchester.
Commissioned by C.I.T.E. Exploring nature's recycling processes of decomposition and photosynthesis in collaboration with Sound Artist Helmut Lemke.
During ten days of on site time based collaborative work three experiments were conducted:
- Photosynthesis experiment with cress seeds and weights
- Sunlight deprivation and chlorophyll extraction of leaves
- Composting using differing ingredients
Processes employed during this time, and consultation with park users, informed the design for a permanent sculpture, "Organic Reflections".
The compost experiment boxes were displayed as temporary artwork in the park for 6 months, during which time they were monitored.
